In celebration of Black History Month, the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Choir of San Diego joins forces with the award-winning American soprano, Janai Brugger, for a celebration of arias, spirituals, and gospel hits. This one is sure to bring down the house!

Since winning the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions in 2012, Janai Brugger’s career has soared from opera houses to the concert stage. In recent seasons, she has performed dramatic roles with the Lyric Opera of Chicago, LA Opera, San Francisco Opera, the Met, and abroad at the Dutch National Opera, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden. Equally at home with symphonic repertoire, Brugger’s recent performances of Mahler and Beethoven with The Philadelphia Orchestra (Yannick Nézet-Séguin) and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra (Ricardo Mutti) have earned her critical acclaim.

Since 1997, the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Choir of San Diego’s inspiring and uplifting music has promoted the artistic growth of children and youth in the metropolitan San Diego region. They serve as a cultural ambassador in regional, national and international concerts and seminars and promote arts education through performances primarily of traditional and contemporary spirituals and gospel music.
