San Carlos United Methodist Church (La Mesa area; off the 125) is seeking a part-time (approximately 6 hours per week) Soprano Section Leader. The Section Leader provides musical and vocal leadership at all worship services, rehearsals and special programs and performs as a soloist as requested. Sunday responsibilities run from 7:30 am to 11:15 am, with weekly, Wednesday night rehearsals from 6:45 pm to 8:30 pm ($20 per hour). The Section Leader will possess significant experience as a choral and solo singer, with previous experience as a Section Leader or similar position preferred; excellent sight reading and musicianship skills; the ability to perform various styles and genres of music; and maintains a professional demeanor and positive attitude. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required. For a complete job description and/or to apply, please send a cover letter and resume to Michael Tyree, Director of Music Ministries, at michaelt@sancarlosumc.org.
A little additional info: Christmas and Summer concerts bring extra hours, including concerts with 25-piece orchestra. The Celebration Choir consists of about 30 members. Our staff currently includes an assistant director/collaborative pianist, audio tech, videographer, and alto and bass section leader. I have especially enjoyed the collaborative nature of my staff, and they are all excellent in their artistry and professionalism. The church itself is extremely welcoming to all, and 99% of the congregation is vaccinated against COVID-19. I have really enjoyed experiencing what this group is capable of during my 9-month tenure. Don’t hesitate to email me with any questions!
