Program and Position Description: The Center Children’s Chorus Assistant Conductor will teach singers of Escondido Choral Arts’ Center Children’s Chorus in a program that provides youth ages 8-14 with an opportunity to learn vocal training, music theory and part-singing. Performances are scheduled for at least two to three times a year at the Center for the Arts, Escondido, as well as other community venues including opportunities to sing with the Center Chorale and in Choral Festivals.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

●  Assist in the organization and planning for the choir for the 2022-23 Choral Season beginning Sept. 12, 2022.

●  Rehearsals to be Mondays from 4:00-5:15 PM at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido, Conference Center. Set-up required starting at 3:15 each Monday

●  Assist teaching musicianship, vocal technique, musical concepts, leadership skills

●  Concert assistance 4 times (dates below)

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE EXPECTED(not required):

●  Some musical and organizational experience

●  Possible degree and/or Kodaly training

●  Experience in music education and conducting in a school, church, or chorus setting

●  Keyboard/piano or other instrument training

2022-2023 SEASON CONCERT DATES:

• Oct 29, 2022: Fall Parent’s Night
• Dec. 18, 2021: Holiday Concert combined with the Center Chorale
• March 11, 2023: Spring Concert Rancho Bernardo Library
• June 3, 2023: Final Concert
