CantAmore Chorus
Expert Overview
CantAmore Chorus was founded in November 2002 by a small group of like-minded choral music lovers in the Korean-American community of San Diego. Our name CantAmore was ‘created’ by joining the Italian words “Cantare” (meaning, to sing) and “Amore” (meaning, to love); it was and is a reflection of the heartfelt love for choral music and singing of the founders and of our members.
Presently, CantAmore is composed of men and women who love to sing, and we perform as an all-voice choir (the Chorus) and as a women-only group (the Women’s Chorale). We are dedicated to musical excellence, study, and performance by singers/musicians of Korean-American descent. Led by Conductor/Music Director, Mr. Hyun-Kwan Chung, CantAmore continuously seeks to foster and promote the cultural awareness within the San Diego Korean-American community in the fields of music and arts through its performances, community of brotherhood and camaraderie.
At this time, we hold two events during the year: an annual concert held during the Winter and the Korea Community’s Spring Festival during April, during which numerous musical talents from the local musical community perform along with the CantAmore Chorus/Chorale.
