Dear SDGMC Family and Friends,

This Pride season, we have the opportunity to make history together.

The San Diego Gay Men’s Chorus is proud to announce our partnership with the San Diego Blood Bank to launch “Pride in Every Drop,” our first annual community blood drive—an event rooted in service, healing, visibility, and pride.

For decades, many gay and bisexual men were prohibited from donating blood due to discriminatory policies that excluded LGBTQ+ people from participating in a simple yet lifesaving act of care. While many in our community stepped forward during times of crisis—especially throughout the HIV/AIDS epidemic—we were often told we could not give in this way.

Today, that story is changing.

Thanks to updated FDA guidelines and more equitable donor eligibility policies, many LGBTQ+ individuals who were once excluded now have the opportunity to participate. Pride in Every Drop is about more than donating blood—it is about reclaiming something our community was denied, showing up for one another, and demonstrating the power of who we are when we come together.

This is our chance to shine.

Together, we can help save lives, strengthen our community, and send a powerful message: the LGBTQ+ community gives back. We care. We show up. And we lead with love.

We want this to be the largest, most joyful, and most impactful LGBTQ+ blood drive —and we need you to help make it happen.

Whether you donate, volunteer, cheer others on, or simply spread the word, there is a place for everyone in Pride in Every Drop.
