2026 Summer Chorus - Director Application

The Choral Consortium of San Diego (CCSD) invites applications from choral directors interested in leading our 2026 Summer Chorus!

The CCSD Summer Chorus brings together singers from across San Diego County and neighboring regions for a collaborative summer choral experience. The ensemble rehearses for a short period, culminating in a public performance. Singers represent a wide range of choral backgrounds. From members of Consortium choirs, to independent singers looking for a summer musical opportunity.

Each year, the Summer Chorus is led by a guest choral director who proposes a unique musical theme or concept for the program. This director works collaboratively with CCSD to shape the repertoire, rehearsal process, and final performance.

The Summer Chorus serves several important goals:

    * Connecting singers across the San Diego choral community
    * Showcasing the artistic leadership of local conductors
    * Promoting the mission and visibility of the Choral Consortium of San Diego
    * Providing an accessible summer performance opportunity for singers

6-8 rehearsals are typically held once or twice per week in the evening and run approximately 2 hours each session. The director must provide practice tracks, digital recordings and music to singers prior to the start of the program. The program concludes with a public concert performance

A stipend will be provided for the selected director ($1,000)
A piano accompanist will also be hired for rehearsals and performance(s) ($35/hr rehearsal rate + $250 per performance day)

Applicants are encouraged to propose creative themes, repertoire concepts, or collaborative ideas that will inspire singer registrations and engage audiences!

Check out our YouTube for past concert recordings.

Selected applicants may be contacted for additional discussion by the CCSD Summer Chorus Selection Committee.

Thank you for applying!
