Seasonal, part-time, up to 40 hours per month
Reports to: San Diego Women’s Chorus Board of Directors
Who Are We?
The San Diego Women’s Chorus (SDWC) is a lesbian-identified, feminist community of musicians that welcomes LGBTQ+ and straight ally members and volunteers. Since its founding by 14 lesbians in 1987, the San Diego Women’s Chorus has strived to be a safe feminist space that encourages creativity, celebrates diversity, and inspires social action.
SDWC is proudly trans- and nonbinary- inclusive, welcoming women and people of other marginalized genders who sing in the Soprano/Alto (treble) range. As a non-profit community chorus, SDWC entertains and inspires audiences with music that highlights diverse themes, from human rights to world peace, from environmental harmony to cultural diversity. SDWC supports and affirms the music of women and LGBTQ+ composers and arrangers.
About the Role
What You’ll Do
Main duties include, but are not limited to:
Lead the implementation of SDWC’s marketing initiatives
Create, curate, and publish content on social media platforms, including Facebook and Instagram, to grow SDWC’s audience, build brand awareness and increase ticket sales and donations. Moderate and comment on activity and user-generated content on SDWC social media pages.
Participate in formulating plans to publicize events, performances, and other activities of SDWC
Maintain and update tasklist and provide status updates for marketing projects
Maintain the SDWC.org website and keep the information it displays up to date
Support SDWC’s email marketing strategy
Track engagement metrics to measure the effectiveness of SDWC strategies
Provide feedback on the design of marketing materials for each concert season
Provide a monthly report of accomplishments and calendar on future marketing activities to the SDWC Board of Directors
Assist with archiving and sharing of videos and photos taken of SDWC activities
Coordinate with marketing volunteers as needed
Preferred Qualifications
Excellent and proactive communication skills, both verbal and written
Team player and able to collaborate with a variety of individuals
Ability to plan global marketing strategy in partnership with artistic staff and the board
Assist with implementation of that strategy
Willingness and ability to learn how to use existing marketing tools. Familiarity with social media platforms a plus
Organized and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
Flexible schedule depending on seasonal demand
Proficiency with utilizing the Google suite of tools
Photo and short-form video skills a plus as well as experience with Canva
