WHO - This trip is tailored for confident and skilled singers who are comfortable learning by ear and written music.

REGISTRATION WILL OPEN APRIL 26th at 11:00 am PST  and applications will be reviewed and accepted based on voice part and experience level. The REGISTRATION link will become active on that day. 

Join us for an exciting 8 day vocal and cultural intensive in Xalapa, Veracruz! This trip will be an amazing learning opportunity and an introduction into the rich cultural world of Veracruz. We will be exploring the music of Veracruz and Cuba with a combination of Son, Boleros and choral music.

With it's close proximity to Cuba there are some fascinating cross cultural influences and we will be sharing our time between Son Jarocho, Son Cubano, Boleros from both Mexico and Cuba, plus choral music rooted in these traditions. We will be inviting local singers to join us for our choral component and will be learning brand new arrangements specifically created for this gathering - works by Julio Morales and Miguel Zequeira and one will be written in the indigenous language of Totonaco.

At the end of the week we will have two closing concerts - one at the University of Xalapa and one at the Museum of Anthropology.

The start of the trip will coincide with Los Dias de Los Muertos and we will be making a trip to the nearby village of Naolinco to see this vibrant and beautiful tradition.
