San Diego Chorus
The San Diego Chorus is an award-winning chapter of SingUnited International, dedicated to advancing musical excellence through award-winning four-part a cappella harmony in the barbershop style. Recently celebrating 75 years of harmony, the chorus is a volunteer-led, membership-driven 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to education, artistry, and building community through exceptional vocal performance.
Under the direction of Dr. Dan Wessler, the chorus pursues excellence both on and off the contest stage. As a two-time International Champion, the San Diego Chorus competes regularly at the regional and international levels while sharing the joy of barbershop harmony through performances across San Diego County, including beloved community traditions such as December Nights in Balboa Park, local concerts, civic events, and private engagements.
At its heart, the San Diego Chorus exists to help singers grow. Members receive ongoing vocal education, world-class coaching, performance opportunities, and leadership development in a welcoming, collaborative environment where lifelong friendships are formed alongside remarkable music. The chorus welcomes treble voices from all backgrounds and offers a year-round, self-paced audition pathway, allowing new members to join throughout the year.
The San Diego Chorus rehearses weekly at Casa del Prado, Room 207, in beautiful Balboa Park. Guests are always welcome to visit a rehearsal, experience award-winning barbershop harmony firsthand, and discover what makes the San Diego Chorus such a vibrant musical community.
Dr. Dan Wessler
Dr. Dan Wessler is an award-winning arranger, educator, performer, and choral conductor who serves as Musical Director of the San Diego Chorus and Musical and Artistic Director of the Westminster Chorus, a four-time International Champion organization within the Barbershop Harmony Society (BHS). Holding a Doctor of Musical Arts in Choral Conducting and Literature from the University of Colorado Boulder, Dan is widely recognized for his innovative arrangements, inspiring leadership, and commitment to musical excellence.
A certified BHS Sound Judge, sought-after arranger, and coach, Dan is also an accomplished performer. He sings bass with After Hours, the 2018 Barbershop Harmony Society International Quartet Champion, performing throughout the United States while sharing the artistry and joy of barbershop harmony with audiences nationwide.
