St. James Music Series

For over 35 years, the St. James Music Series has brought world-class choral music to the heart of La Jolla. Hosted in the stunning, acoustically vibrant sanctuary of St. James by-the-Sea Episcopal Church, the series offers a rare opportunity to experience the beauty and power of the human voice in an intimate, resonant setting.

Each season features a carefully curated lineup of top-tier vocal ensembles and instrumental artists from around the world. Past performers include the Vienna Boys Choir, VOCES8, Anonymous 4, The Tallis Scholars, the Venice Baroque Orchestra, The Choir of Westminster Abbey, and the Grammy Award-winning Chanticleer, a beloved mainstay of the series.

The Music Series also includes world-class organ recitals and choral services led by The Choir of St. James, the church’s exceptional resident ensemble. These offerings enrich the musical life of the parish and the broader community, weaving sacred tradition with artistic excellence.

Whether it’s Renaissance polyphony, bold new works, or a soul-stirring choral evensong, every performance is chosen to inspire, challenge, and move. We believe great music speaks across time and culture—and that hearing it live, in a space built for beauty, is an experience unlike any other.
