More action items to fight for the restoration of the city arts and culture budget
We need to apply pressure during this critical time in the budget process. Here are some ways you can continue to advocate leading up to the next key budget meeting on Monday, May 6, at 9 a.m. Action Items include visiting artsandculturesd.org to fill out a very quick form to send letters directly to your city councilmember and Mayor Todd Gloria.
IMMEDIATE ACTION ITEMS
TO FIGHT FOR THE RESTORATION OF THE CITY ARTS AND CULTURE BUDGET
Email/call your city council member and Mayor: (super easy email form linked here)
Simply fill out the form on artsandculturesd.org to voice your strong opposition to these devastating cuts. We need to flood the inboxes of these decision makers. Send to your network of staff, volunteers, members, boards as you see fit.
We must demonstrate our economic contributions to the city and highlight the very real threat to our creative sector.
Send general "arts" photos that can be used in social media posts to: advocacy@artsandculturesd.org
Submit letters to the San Diego Union-Tribune: arts@sduniontribune.com
The San Diego Union-Tribune is going to start publishing letters to the editor in the Arts section starting Sunday, April 26. They are specifically looking for letters about the arts funding cuts.
They ask that the letters be between 150 - 200 words. Share stories about what your organization contributes to the community and how these cuts will affect you.
Mark your calendars for additional City budget hearings:
Monday, May 6, 9am Budget Review Committee (BRC) budget presentation hearings for Arts and Culture.
Wednesday, May 13, 6pm District 3 Budget Town Hall RSVP: https://forms.cloud.microsoft/g/N1UHP24Z64
