San Diego, Let's Sing! World Singing Day Comes to Liberty Station

Saturday, October 17, 2026 | 4 PM | Liberty Public Market

What happens when an entire community starts singing together?

Come find out on Saturday, October 17, when San Diego joins communities around the world in celebrating World Singing Day!

The Choral Consortium of San Diego is bringing this global celebration of music and human connection to Liberty Public Market, where we'll gather on the Front Patio by the "USS Brave" for a FREE community sing-along beginning at 4 PM.

You Don't Have to Be a Singer

Let's get one thing out of the way: You do not have to be a singer to participate.

World Singing Day isn't a concert, audition, or competition. There are no rehearsals required and no expectation that you perform for anyone.

Maybe you sing in a choir every week.

Maybe you haven't sung since elementary school.

Maybe your family has politely asked you to stop singing in the car.

You're invited.

World Singing Day is about what happens when people set aside the pressure to be perfect and simply make music together.

Led by Dr. Kathleen Hansen

Our community sing-along will be led by Dr. Kathleen Hansen, Artistic Director of the San Diego Women's Chorus.

Kathleen has nearly 30 years of experience as a musician and music educator and is deeply committed to accessible, inclusive community singing. She also serves as a 411 Artistic Advisor for GALA Choruses and as a member of SingUnited International Faculty. Her academic work includes music education and conducting degrees from San Diego State University and a Doctorate of Musical Arts from Boston University, where she studied trauma-informed practices in adult community choruses.

Kathleen believes strongly in the transformative power of group singing, and we can't wait to have her leading San Diego's voices!

A Celebration of San Diego's Choral Community

World Singing Day is also an opportunity to celebrate the incredible diversity of San Diego's choral community.

The Choral Consortium of San Diego exists to promote and celebrate choral music throughout our region and to connect the many singers, conductors, organizations, and communities that make San Diego's choral arts scene so vibrant.

This event is an invitation to expand that community even further.

You don't need to belong to one of San Diego's many wonderful choirs. You don't need to read music. You don't need to have a "good" singing voice.

You just need to come.
